Elevated Indian Sandstone Patio Installation in Burnley
We recently completed this elevated Indian sandstone patio installation in Burnley, transforming a sloping garden into a large, level outdoor living space that can be enjoyed all year round.
The existing patio area was small and positioned on an uneven gradient, limiting its usability. The customer wanted a much larger entertaining area that would create a seamless connection between the property and the garden.
Excavation & Ground Preparation
The project began with the removal of the original patio and excavation of the surrounding area.
Due to the slope of the garden, significant groundwork was required to create a level platform. The area was carefully prepared with a new sub-base and compacted foundation to ensure long-term stability and durability.
A membrane was installed beneath the new patio construction to help prevent weed growth and improve overall performance.
Retaining Sleepers & Garden Features
To support the newly elevated patio, we supplied and installed timber retaining sleepers along the perimeter.
These not only provide structural support but also create an attractive border between the patio and lawn area.
We also constructed a platform step leading down into the garden, making access easy while maintaining a clean and professional finish.
Along the fence line, we created a series of raised flower beds, adding character to the garden and providing dedicated planting areas that complement the new outdoor space.
Indian Sandstone Installation
The new patio was laid using Indian Sandstone, covering approximately 60 square metres.
The natural variation in colour and texture throughout the sandstone creates a timeless appearance, while the generous size of the patio provides plenty of room for outdoor furniture, entertaining, and everyday family use.
Each slab was carefully laid and levelled to create a smooth, consistent finish across the entire area.
Finished Result
The completed project has transformed what was once a sloping and underutilised section of garden into a spacious, level patio that significantly enhances both the appearance and functionality of the property.
The combination of Indian sandstone, timber retaining sleepers, platform steps, and raised flower beds creates a practical and attractive outdoor space that blends perfectly with the surrounding garden.
The full project was completed in just five days from start to finish.
