Project Overview
We recently completed this Indian sandstone patio transformation in Burnley, completely redesigning an old and dated garden space into a modern, low-maintenance outdoor area.
The original patio had become worn and uneven over time, with tired retaining walls and old paving that no longer suited the property. The aim was to create a clean, contemporary finish with improved structure and durability throughout.
Preparation & Installation
We began by removing the existing paving and preparing the entire area for a full rebuild.
A brand-new foundation was installed across the garden, including a solid sub-base and membrane sheeting throughout to improve stability and help prevent future weed growth.
The area was then levelled and compacted, ensuring a strong base ready for the new patio installation.
Composite Cladding & Structural Improvements
As part of the redesign, we fitted composite cladding to the retaining walls and raised sections of the garden to completely refresh the appearance of the space.
The dark cladding creates a modern contrast against the lighter paving and fencing, helping to define the different levels within the garden while giving the patio a much cleaner overall finish.
We also reshaped and rebuilt the stepped access areas to improve flow and usability throughout the garden.
Indian Sandstone Installation
The patio was laid using Kendall Grey Indian Sandstone, chosen for its modern colour tones and natural textured finish.
The mixed-size laying pattern adds character to the space while keeping a clean and contemporary appearance throughout the garden.
To complete the installation, we applied black grouting, which enhances the contrast between the slabs and gives the patio a sharp, high-end finish.
Finished Result
The completed patio has completely transformed the outdoor space into a modern and practical area that is perfect for relaxing and entertaining.
The combination of the Kendall Grey sandstone, black grouting, composite cladding, and new fencing gives the garden a sleek and contemporary appearance while remaining durable and low maintenance.
The full project was completed in just five days from start to finish.
