Welcome to another complete property transformation by the Lakestone Paving team. For this project in Blackburn, Darwin, we were tasked with entirely redesigning the front entryway, the side pathways, and the expansive back patio to create a clean, modern, and cohesive look around the entire home.
In just five days, our team took this property from its original state to a stunning outdoor living space. Here is a look at our process and the final results.

The Preparation and Groundwork
A great patio is only as good as the foundation beneath it. Before any new stone could be laid, we had to clear the existing pathways and prepare the ground.
In the back garden, we carefully marked out the new, sweeping layout for the pathways and patio areas, ensuring a natural flow around the central lawn. We excavated the area, brought in a solid sub-base, and compacted it to guarantee a flat, durable finish that won’t sink over time.
Proper drainage is also a vital part of our process to protect the property and prevent water pooling.
Laying the Indian Sandstone
For the main paving, the client chose gorgeous 600 x 900 Kendall Gray Indian Sandstone. These large-format slabs offer a sleek, premium aesthetic with subtle natural textures that look fantastic wet or dry.
Our team meticulously laid the slabs, starting from the front door and working our way down the side of the house to the back garden, ensuring every cut and level was perfect.
The Finishing Touches: Ruff and Tumble Edging
To frame the beautiful Kendall Gray slabs, we bordered the entire projectโfrom the front path to the back patioโwith a contrasting Burnt Willow ruff and tumble stone edging. This rustic, textured border provides a sharp, defined edge that neatly separates the paving from the lawn and the driveway.
The Final Result
The transformation over just five days was incredible. The property now benefits from a seamless, high-quality stone pathway that leads beautifully into a multi-level back patio area. The Kendall Gray Indian Sandstone looks incredibly striking, providing the homeowners with a durable, low-maintenance, and elegant space to enjoy for years to come.
