block paved driveway platform step bacup 4

Project Overview

We have recently completed this block paved driveway installation in Bacup, Rossendale, giving a tired front garden and gravel area a brand new, clean, modern, and highly functional look.

The previous front garden and drive was made up of a mixture of lawn and loose gravel, which not only looked unsightly but also made parking extremely difficult. The customer was looking for a strong, low-maintenance drive with a sharp, modern appearance, and that is exactly what we provided.

Ground Preparation & Drainage

As with all of our driveway works, we began by excavating the entire existing driveway, removing the grass, soil, and previous sub-base materials.

We then laid a solid foundation using MOT Type 1 hardcore materials, compacting them in layers to ensure stability and prevent any future movement or settling of the driveway.

One of the unique aspects of this driveway project was the installation of ACO channel drainage across the front of the driveway. This is an important aspect of any professional driveway installation and allows for water runoff without any chance of water running across the driveway and onto the pavement or towards the property.

Edging & Structural Features

In order to have a defined and lasting finish, a double border detail was achieved by using charcoal blocks, which perfectly frames the driveway and provides a premium finish.

In addition, a recessed manhole cover was included, enabling it to blend in perfectly with the block paving, rather than standing out, which is a great detail that makes a big impact visually.

Finally, a platform step was built at the entrance of the property, providing a much safer and more accessible entrance while matching in with the design perfectly.

Block Paving Installation

The main driveway area was constructed by using a combination of grey block paving with charcoal borders, and it provides a clean and contemporary look that suits the house perfectly.

Blocks were arranged in a tight and consistent manner, and decorative elements were added to improve the look of the driveway. After that, the driveway was kiln-dried sanded and compacted to secure everything in place properly.

The Finished Result

The completed driveway has totally transformed the front of the house. The space was previously unused and uneven; now it is a smart, practical, and attractive driveway with ample parking space.

The combination of color, edging, and drainage makes for a driveway that not only looks good but also promises to perform well for many years to come.

Block paving is still one of the most popular choices for driveways today, and it’s easy to see why from this completed driveway.
