Project Overview
This stunning patio project was completed in Padiham and involved the complete upgrade of a tired and uneven garden into a beautiful, low maintenance outdoor space using Indian sandstone paving. The main aim of this project was to design and create a smart and stylish patio that could be enjoyed all year round while enhancing the overall appearance and usability of the garden.
Preparation & Removal
We started by carefully removing all the old patio slabs and lifting the existing turf throughout the garden. The area was thoroughly cleared to allow for a fresh and solid foundation. This also gave us the opportunity to address some of the drainage issues the garden had been experiencing.

Ground Preparation
Now the area was clear, we could focus on preparing the ground for the new patio installation. We excavated the area to the required depth and installed a high-quality geotextile membrane sheeting. This membrane is ideal for separating the sub-base from the soil below, helping with drainage and preventing weeds from growing through the patio in the future. We then laid a new hardcore foundation across the entire area, ensuring it was well compacted to create a stable and long-lasting base.
Patio Installation
With the ground fully prepared, we started laying the Raj Green Indian sandstone slabs in a beautiful blend of mixed sizes to create a natural, stylish look that complemented the surroundings. Acro channel drains were placed around the perimeter of the patio to make sure any surface water is managed effectively and directed away from the property.
Finishing Touches
Once the patio was fully installed and pointed, we completed the finishing touches, this included:
- A neat border edge to frame the patio area.
- Re-pointing of all the joints with resin-based jointing compound for a clean finish.
- Full clean down and jet wash to leave the patio looking fresh and ready to use.
The Final Result
It is an outstanding transformation! The new Indian sandstone patio has completely changed the look of the garden, significantly boosting the overall appearance. It now offers a sleek, low maintenance space, perfect for outdoor dining, entertainment and relaxing.
