Project Overview
This project in Rossendale involved a full overhaul of an old, worn-out driveway that had become uneven and unsightly. We began by completely removing the existing surface, clearing away all of the tired, crumbling material to make way for a fresh, long-lasting installation.
Before
The original driveway was a patchy combination of crumbling tarmac and loose gravel, resulting in an uneven and unstable surface that lacked both function and visual appeal. Drainage was poor in several areas, and the overall layout appeared disjointed, with no clear edge or structure. The old surface not only detracted from the property’s kerb appeal but also created practical issues for everyday use, especially during wet weather.

Base Preparation
We installed a heavy-duty membrane to prevent weed growth and help with ground stability. This was followed by a new hardcore base, which was compacted in layers for strength. A heavy duty membrane was laid and the grit sand was screed to correct levels to form the perfect bedding layer for the paving. -
Laying the Blocks
The chosen blocks were classic Tegula-style pavers in a warm rustic blend, ideal for blending in with the surrounding stonework of the house. The blocks were laid in a staggered pattern to create a timeless cobbled look, with a contrasting charcoal border to define the edge and enhance the visual appeal. Care was taken around inspection covers, which were fitted with block-infill trays to keep the finish seamless. -
Finishing Touches
Once all the paving was laid, the joints were filled with kiln-dried sand and the entire surface was compacted to lock the blocks firmly in place. Edges were haunched securely with concrete to ensure long-term stability.
Final Result:
The transformation is remarkable. The newly installed Tegula block paved driveway features a durable, level surface with a timeless, rustic aesthetic. The multi-tonal blocks were laid in a traditional pattern, framed with contrasting charcoal borders that neatly defined the space. The overall look is clean, well-structured, and perfectly suited to the character of the home. In addition to greatly improving access and drainage, the finished driveway offers a long-lasting solution that enhances both the appearance and value of the property.
