The original surface had become loose and unstable – “like a piano board” – creating both an eyesore and safety concern. The goal was to replace it with a modern, long-lasting tarmac driveway that would look clean, smart, and blend seamlessly with the property’s frontage.
Project Steps:
- Old Driveway Removal:
- We began by removing all the existing slabs and excavating the full driveway to the correct depth, ensuring a fresh start and solid groundwork.
- Foundation Installation:
- A new hardcore base was supplied and laid, then compacted thoroughly to create a stable and even foundation.
- Paved Border & Front Design:
- We installed a stylish block paved border around the perimeter, adding a decorative chevron pattern across the front for a touch of character.
- Geo-Textile Membrane:
- A high-quality geo-textile membrane was laid to prevent weed growth and improve overall ground stability.
- MOT Type 1 Base:
- The full area was covered with Type 1 MOT hardcore, compacted to a firm, load-bearing surface.
- Tarmac Application:
- Finally, a 10mm tarmac layer was applied and compacted to a depth of 2 inches, achieving a smooth, even, and durable finish.
