Block Paved Driveway & Steps – Keighley
This comprehensive, 60-square-metre project in Keighley was a complete front-of-house transformation, completed in just five days. The original space was narrow, crumbling tarmac drive with a dilapidated wall and unsafe steps. The goal was to create a wider, structurally sound, and visually stunning driveway with safe access and a unique design to enhance the property’s kerb appeal.
Demolition & Excavation
The project began with breaking up and removing the old tarmac driveway, the crumbling boundary wall, and the existing concrete steps. The entire area was then excavated, removing a significant amount of soil from the garden to widen the driveway and create a solid base for the new structures.

Retaining Wall & Steps Construction
A new, curved retaining wall was built using high-quality, rustic stone blocks to create a strong and attractive boundary. We then constructed a new set of wide, welcoming platform steps. The step risers were built with matching stone, and the treads were finished with premium grey Indian sandstone slabs for a durable and high-end look.
Sub-Base & Preparation
A deep, compacted sub-base of MOT Type 1 hardcore was installed across the entire 60-square-metre area to provide a solid foundation. This was followed by a screeded layer of sharp sand. meticulously levelled to ensure a perfect paving surface.
Bespoke Block Paving
The driveway was paved using a combination of colours to create a unique look. The main body features charcoal block pavers laid in a 45-degree herrringbone pattern. This was framed with a natural grey border. To make the entrance stand out, we incorporated a distinctive design feature using a mix of the two colours, creating a custom detail that sets the property apart from it’s neighbours.
Final Result:
The result is a complete transformation that combines robust engineering with creative design. The new driveway is not only significantly larger and more practical but also a stunning visual feature. The contrast between the charcoal and grey paving, the elegant curve of the new stone wall, and the high-quality finish on the steps all work together to create a sophisticated and unique entrance to the home, completed efficiently in just five working days.
